gun lake casino

print and digital

At Gun Lake Casino, my experience was anything but ordinary. Here, I learned how to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple projects while learning a new program.

The first day on the job reflects my experience as a whole: I was thrown right into it, forced to design a t-shirt, supporting print pieces, and learn After Effects that very day while doing the typical first day orientation things. Needless to say, as I stepped into my role as print designer and in charge of the monthly promotions, I learned many things from the entertainment and gaming industry.

monthly promotion

Every month there is a new promotion that produces a lot of collateral to go along with it. This includes: motion graphics sized out to fit different screens (grand and smaller marquees, and the different sizes within the casino itself), brochures, mailers, calendars, gifs, cardboard cutouts, logos, website updates, and billboards.

When working within a casino’s brand guidelines, it was important to keep it bold, flashy, and exciting; words that are very evocative of the atmosphere there.

Actual high quality picture of my first time seeing my first billboard on the highway!

Taken of course when stuck in traffic on 131.

Displayed here is the brochure that gets sent out to the mailing
list. The point of this print piece is to get customers to come back
to the casino. It illustrates the different kinds of promotions going on at that time, usually featuring a senior discount, giveaway
items, lucky pick, and other promotional items.

The pink text represents the variable data that the printer would
fill out with the reward that a specific person would receive, therefore it was necessary to create more than one layout as
they could receive varying bets or slot play.
