packaging design

For this packaging design, we were tasked with creating a cover, inside sleeve, and record.

My choice was to redesign my favorite album of all time, Rubber Soul, by The Beatles. Drawing from the 1960’s free flowing, hippie era, I wanted to translate that within this album. I also drew inspiration from Milton Glaser, who has the infamous poster of Bob Dylan who was huge during that era. Combining illustration and hand lettering text, the comprehensive design system I created uses around the same colors of the original album, shaping it in a different way.

Taking the illustration of John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s hair, I was able to transform the strands into a patterned texture that creates the psychedelic feel and ties in both the cover and record itself.
